    Aggregate

Pennsy Supply is the largest producer of aggregate in central Pennsylvania, producing more than nine million tons every year consisting of primarily crushed stone, sand and gravel.

Mining mostly dolomitic limestone and calcium carbonate, Pennsy is able to produce an extensive range of small to large size aggregate used to the specifications required by customers.

Aggregate can be used in the following applications:

  • Major roadways and parking lots
  • Home building
  • Driveways
  • Other various construction needs

Pennsy also produces sand for use in aggregate and concrete mixes.

AASHTO #10

AASHTO #10

  • This material is a crushed stone dust.
  • It has a 3/8 inch top size and sizes down to a silt sized material.
  • The material is used for pipe bedding and walkway areas.
  • The material will not compact.
  • Drains slowly.
AASHTO #8

AASHTO #8

  • This material has a 1/2 inch top size.
  • It is a clean material and will not compact.
  • It is used for decorative purposes and walkways, as well as one of the raw materials used to produce Hot-Mixed Asphalt.
  • Also used as a pipe bedding material in some situations.
AASHTO #57

AASHTO #57

  • This material has a 1-1/2 inch top size and is a clean material.
  • Often used for backfill for retaining walls, used for subase for sheds, also sometimes used as driveway stone.
  • Also used as the primary raw aggregate in Ready Mixed Concrete and some Hot-Mixed Asphalt mixes.
  • Will not compact.
2RC Select Granular Material

2RC Select Granular Material

  • This material has a 1-1/2 inch top size and is a mixture of coarse stone and fine material.
  • Used as fill / backfill
  • The fines in this material will be an earthen fine (dirt, silt, loam, clay).
  • This material does not drain readily and has no structural coefficient.
  • Used where compaction and stability are a concern.
  • Primarily a dirty material.
2A Sub Base

2A Sub Base

  • This material has a 2 inch top size.
  • It is a mixture of coarse stone and crushed stone dust.
  • Used as a road base, under slab , driveway or walking paths.
  • Will drain.
  • Has a structural coefficient.
  • Used where stability and drain ability are concerns.
  • Primarily a clean material.
3A Modified

3A Modified

  • This material is similar to 2A Subbase
  • It is a mixture of coarse stone and crushed stone dust.
  • Will drain
  • Used for road base or under slab fill
AASHTO #3

AASHTO #3

  • This material is similar to AASHTO #1, but has a 3 inch top size.
  • It is also a bulky material but is somewhat easier to handle.
  • Used primarily in drainage situations.
  • It is a clean material.
AASHTO #1

AASHTO #1

  • This material has a 4 inch top size.
  • It's too bulky to be used as a surfacing material; however, it makes an excellent stone for subgrade stabilization.
  • Used for construction entrances and ditch lining.
  • Will not compact.
  • It is a clean material.
Anti-Skid

Anti-Skid

  • This material is primarily used by state DOT's and municipalities as a skid deterrent during the winter months
  • Several types and classifications of Anti-Skid are used in Pennsylvania, utilizing sand, limestone, and cinders
  • Anti-Skid usually consists of a 1/2" or 3/8" topsize down to a dust
RIP RAP RIP RAP

RIP RAP

  • This material is the large boulder-sized rock that is often seen lining rivers and streams.
  • R-3 (3" - 6") R-4 (6" - 12") R-5 (9" - 18") R-6 (12" - 24") R-7 (18" - 30") R-8 (24" - 48")
  • Please note that all Rip Rap aggregate is visually inspected for gradation compliance and can vary from quarry to quarry.
  • Although not often used by homeowners, the material makes an excellent flow barrier in situations where water systems threaten property damage.
  • This material will not compact due to it's sizes.
  • This product requires a special rock body truck to haul material at an added cost for delivery.
Concrete Sand

Concrete Sand

  • This sand is a manufactured sand produced at our Mt. Holly, Cumberland County facility.
  • Primarily used for the production of ready mix concrete, this sand is also used as a setting bed for installation of concrete pavers.
  • Because of its sharp angular particle sizes this gives concrete pavers added interlock and strength through sheer transfer.
  • This sand is also available for pick up and small deliveries out of our Building Materials Store on Paxton Street in Harrisburg.
C144 Masonry Sand

C144 Masonry Sand

  • This sand is a manufactured sand produced at our Mt. Holly, Cumberland County facility.
  • Primarily used for a variety of masonry applications.
  • Not as fine as our Washed Masonry Sand, the C144 will have some coarse sized particles.
  • This sand is also available for pick up and small deliveries out of our Building Materials Store on Paxton Street in Harrisburg.
Washed Masonry Sand

Washed Masonry Sand

  • This sand is a manufactured sand produced at our Mt. Holly, Cumberland County facility.
  • This is a washed sand that is much finer than our C144 sand and has many uses for construction, masonry applications, and is used underneath above ground swimming pools and on occasion in outdoor volleyball courts.
  • This sand is also available for pick up and small deliveries out of our Building Materials Store on Paxton Street in Harrisburg.
